About the wood
Q: How heavy is the wood?
A: Each net varies as it is a natural product after all. Mixed nets of kiln dried Alder and Birch are approx 7-8kgs. Kiln dried Ash and
kiln dried Oak is approx. 8-10KG, because they are naturally denser hardwoods. However please don’t
consider weight as a comparison, as some companies can sell wet wood which is heavier, but is not good for
your Wood Burner or heat output.
Q: What is the best wood to burn?
A: Historically Ash is the king of hardwoods, because it is very dense and has a high calorific value therefore offers
the best of all properties. However, Oak is denser than Ash and burns a little longer but takes a little longer to heat up. This can make it suitable for larger wood burners or open fires or fires that need to burn as long as possible. This season we are not selling Alder and Birch mixed nets as they do not give enough heat and longevity and we believe it is a false economy for our customers. So through experience and feedback we are supplying the premium Ash and Oak nets for the hottest, cleanest and longest burn.
Q: What is the moisture content of your hardwood nets?
A: We test our products on arrival to our warehouse, weekly and randomly to make sure our wood is less than 20%.
It usually averages 15% moisture content to guarantee a clean and hot burning firewood. Our drivers carry a moisture tester and will happily test your wood on delivery for you.
Q: Can I still burn your wood after the government changes in 2021?
A: Yes our wood is Woodsure Ready to burn accredited! Our firewood is kiln dried to less than 20% moisture. We test our wood weekly to make sure our hardwood is always within guide lines of Woodsure ready to burn scheme. You can buy with confidence from The Firewood Store Bristol. Q: Is your wood sustainable?
A: Yes, all our wood is sourced from managed forests and suppliers. We are Woodsure accredited so you know our firewood is sustainable and legal to burn.
Q: Will your wood fit in my small wood burner?
A: Our logs are uniformly cut to 25cm or just under 10″ specifically to suit virtually all wood burners big or small
Q: How do you deliver?
A: We deliver using medium transit sized vans with our own team of drivers. We sell kiln dried nets so we can deliver your firewood to a location of choice (as long as it is safe to do so) We personally hand deliver where you need them, we have sack trucks and do everything for you. We do not just unload or dump on the driveway like other companies. We do not deliver crates on a tail lift on the end of your drive leaving you to unload by hand yourself.

Q: Can I track my firewood delivery?
A: You can’t track your firewood delivery, however you would have already chosen a day and 4 hour time slot at checkout. On the day you will be informed of an approximate time of your delivery if requested. Please note this is not guaranteed due to multiple deliveries and traffic constraints, however communication is key, an our drivers will inform you if there is a change to your advised slot.
Q: Can I choose when I receive my order?
A: Yes! At the checkout once you input your address it will tell you what date is available, if it is greyed out is is fully booked, if you can select it then it is available. Please see Delivery page for more info.
Q: Do i need to be in to receive my order?
A: No you don’t. At the checkout you can write in the notes box any instruction for our driver to leave your Firewood order where you require. We will stack in your wood store or shed if you just write some clear instructions for us, no problem at all. e.g ” Back gate left open, please stack in wood store”
Q: Can I change my delivery day or time slot?
A: You can change your delivery day by either emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with your order number, name on the order and details of the date and time slot you would like to change it to. Otherwise please call the office on 01179 112 140 and speak to one of the team. Please be advised while we will always try our best to accommodate changes, we need to be advised by 4pm the day before your original delivery date if you are wanting to change your time slot only.
Q: Do you deliver firewood in Bristol and Bath only?
A: We do only offer free next day firewood delivery in Bristol and Bath. However, if you are on the outskirts of Bristol or Bath, we may be able to accommodate your firewood delivery if we are near at the time.
e.g Some Swindon (SN12,13, 14) postcodes and Gloucester (GL9,12,13) postcodes are adjacent to Bristol and Bath deliveries. Please give us a call and we will always try to help on 0117 9112 140.
